Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads them to be stranded in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law stars in the ‘Skeleton Crew’ and other stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neil’s younger siblings is the same one Chewbacca’s family watches in the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). He stars in Crazy Cartoon AniMat: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022). I watched the first two episodes, and while there’s a clear attempt to make The Goonies a space program, what’s wrong with that? It’s a completely different take on the story that exists in the Star Wars universe. I liked the look and feel of the suburban town in this world because we haven’t actually seen it. The town they come from reminded me more of E.T. than anything we’ve seen in recent shows. The four main characters are generic but fun, each with clearly defined roles in the group, and the actors play them well. The pirate vibe is not something we’ve seen before, adding a bit of a spooky element and a sense of danger. This is a perfect fit for an ’80s film. I’m enjoying it so far for the new story elements in the Star Wars universe, the hints of nostalgia for my childhood movies, and the fact that I can share this Star Wars experience with my kids.
